We are often restricted by the box we place ourselves in, be it an image, a situation or a perspective. I recalled a conversation between myself and Ting just last week on how our experiences and knowledge gained over the years may cloud our vision, and then place a preset-perspective/expectation on the event before we go through the situation. And this itself may stop us from going ahead with the activity and deprive us from the joy that could have occurred.
Why did this come about? In our ASCS's FUN Time segment on Monday, we actually had an activity to get children to think out of the box! Parents who are curious about our ITOTA programmes and ASCS's FUN Time often ask what do we do and how do we develop children's soft skills? This is one of the many activities that we have in place for the kids and it helps to expand and open up children's minds - first step to creative thinking!

For this task, children were given half a star template and they had to finish the image. The only limitation is, they can't draw a star! To be honest, when I first discovered this task, I was rather blanked out - I have no idea how to complete it! Our brains have been wired to complete that star template automatically that it makes it more challenging to "un-see" the star. So you can guess how thrilled I was to see what the kids could see from and through these lines :D
Their creativity and perspectives always WOW me... Let me know what do you see beyond these lines!! :p
Warmly,
Kei
